AI IN PRODUCTION

Codex for motion design: uses and advantages

OpenAI’s development agent helps write, review and debug code. For a motion designer it is useful when a task goes beyond conversation and involves a script, website or project files.

Advantages in a workflow

  • Working on code in a project context.
  • Support for checking and debugging.
  • Different interfaces for development tasks.

An example of project use

Define a concrete outcome, such as a file-preparation script or a portfolio-page adaptation. Save the original version before changes. Test behaviour on a small example before using it on working material. Production’s bonus video lesson uses AI tools to build a one-page portfolio website.

What to check

Generated code needs validation. File access, command execution and available tools depend on the environment. Scripts for After Effects or other applications also need version-compatibility checks. Using Codex does not make every technical result correct automatically.

Connecting it with classical production

Sessions approach the tool through a project task: what it accelerates, what inputs it needs and how to review the output. Combine it with design, animation and compositing.
